Biography
Dr. Mary Westergaard is currently Program Director for the University of Wisconsin Emergency Medicine Residency Program. After earning her medical degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Dr. Westergaard completed her emergency medicine residency training at Denver Health Medical Center, where she served as chief resident during her final year. Upon graduation, she moved back to Baltimore to join the faculty of the Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Residency Program where she cultivated an interest in resident and medical student education. Dr. Westergaard then moved to Madison in order to join the rapidly expanding emergency medicine residency program at the University of Wisconsin. She served as Assistant Director and then Director of Medical Student Education before being appointed Residency Program Director in 2014. Her professional interests center on resident and medical student education, simulation, women in emergency medicine, and emergency ultrasound.
