Ms. Vivieca Wright Simpson

Biography

 Ms. Vivieca Wright Simpson assumed duties as Chief of Staff of the Department of Veterans Affairs on February 27, 2017. As Chief of Staff, she is the senior most advisor to the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, which has a $182.3 billion budget with over 340,000 employees and 1,700 sites of care, benefit offices, and national cemeteries throughout the country. Prior to becoming Chief of Staff, Ms. Wright Simpson served as the Chief of Staff of the Veterans Health Administration (VHA), the largest integrated health care system in the United States, where she focused on strategy and innovation . Ms. Wright Simpson has held numerous leadership roles in VHA. She has experience in working with senior executives, congressional members, and Veteran stakeholders. During her 32 years of service to VA, Ms. Wright Simpson leveraged her expertise in policy practices, medical regulations, strategic planning, and leadership development to implement a broad range of transformational and innovative initiatives. Throughout her career, she has been selected for high-impact assignments with national implications and is recognized as an outcomes-oriented leader. Ms. Wright Simpson is a native of Birmingham, Alabama. She holds a MasterPublic Health Administration from Meharry Medical College and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Tennessee State University. She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.
