Biography

 Mr. Rob C. Thomas II serves as the Acting Assistant Secretary and Chief Information Officer for the Office of Information and Technology (OI&T). He oversees the day-to-day activities of VA’s $4 billion IT budget and more than 16,000 government and contract personnel to ensure that VA has the IT tools and services needed to support our Nation’s Veterans . Mr. Thomas previously served as the Deputy Assistant Secretary for OI&T’s Enterprise Program Management Office . Before coming to the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Mr. Thomas served as Deputy Chief Information Officer and Acting Chief Information Officer (CIO) at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Washington, D.C. He had oversight responsibilities for all FEMA information systems . Prior to this, Mr. Thomas was Vice President of Enterprise Transformation for Accenture LLC. Other roles include Deputy Chief of Staff for Warfighting Integration and Deputy CIO, Department of the Air Force, and Executive Director, Air Force Personnel Center, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas . Mr. Thomas’ notable awards include the VA Secretary’s ICARE Award (2016); the Hall of Fame, Enterprise Architecture, FEAC and John Zachman (2013); Lifetime Achievement Award, Enterprise Architecture and many more .
