Dr. Mehmet Akay is a board certified Physician at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). Dr. Akay sees adults with advanced heart failure within the US and internationally. Dr. Akay focuses on providing personalized patient care and treating them with the utmost respect. His patients are a high priority and are always put first.Dr. Akay is an active member of several professional organizations including the American Board of Surgery, Society of Thoracic Surgeons, Turkish Cardiovascular Society and many more. Dr. Akay has also received several awards throughout his career. While Dr. Akay is not caring for his patients, he enjoys watching soccer and visiting Turkey with his wife, two daughters, and son.
