Biography
Craig H. Olson, M.D., is an Assistant Professor in UT Southwestern Medical Center’s Department of Surgery. A colorectal surgeon, Dr. Olson was instrumental in launching UT Southwestern’s Pelvic Floor Disorders Program and served as its first Medical Director. Board certified in both general and colon and rectal surgery, Dr. Olson earned his medical degree at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine on a Beisner Scholarship. He completed a residency in general surgery at UT Southwestern, where he was honored with an Academic Achievement Award, followed by a fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas. He also holds a B.S. in biology and chemistry from the University of Northern Iowa. Dr. Olson joined the UT Southwestern faculty in 2009 and in 2012 was named a D Magazine Best Doctor. In addition to his clinical and teaching responsibilities, he serves on both the Medical Student and Resident Education Committees. Dr. Olson has delivered many lectures and presentations and published a number of journal articles related to his specialty. He also contributed to the third edition of the Parkland Trauma Handbook.
