Biography

Professor Polito joined the faculty of the developing Physician Assistant (PA) Program in November 2016. Her extensive educational experience includes being a member of the faculty of the Oregon Health & Science PA Program from 2012-2016 and an Academic Coordinator at the Duke University PA Program from 2008-2012. She is a graduate of the Duke University Physician Assistant Program and has been in practice since 1999 with clinical experience in rural primary care and academic oncology. She spent five years working at the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center at Duke. She is currently working towards her doctorate in education through Northeastern University in Boston. Her scholarly interests include promoting diversity in physician assistant education and exploring new methodologies for teaching critical reasoning skills. Professor Polito is a workshop facilitator for the national Physician Assistant Education Association’s Faculty Skills 101 training sessions and has been a frequent presenter at national physician assistant education forums.
