Jamie El Harit

Biography

Professor El Harit joined the faculty in 2016. She earned both her BSN and her DNP from Valparaiso University. She currently is a Family Nurse Practitioner with ANCC Board Certification. In addition to teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate nursing programs, Professor El Harit practices within the specialty of cardiology at Community Care Network. She has also held supervisory and clinical staff education roles. She holds certification as an American Society for Quality Six Sigma Black Belt, and has been leading performance improvement teams to improve safety, quality and efficiency of care for the last 10 years, most recently within a large, tertiary, academic medical center in Chicago. She is a member of the American Society for Quality, the Greater Chicago Area Chapter of the AACN, where she had previously served as a board member, AANP, CAPNI, and Sigma Theta Tau, Zeta Epsilon Chapter, where she serves as Faculty Advisor. She also has been accepted as a member of the American College of Cardiology. Professor El Harit has had poster presentations at three of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement’s National Forums, and was a multiple session speaker at the 2009 Society for Health Systems’ National Conference. She has co-authored and led case studies of previous Lean Six Sigma improvement efforts. Additionally, she was a poster presenter of her Doctoral EBP project aimed at reducing the disparities of breastfeeding initiation among urban adolescents at the STTI Conference in 2015.
