Biography
Dr. Brandy teaches in both the graduate and undergraduate programs. Dr. Brandy holds a Master’s degree as a clinical nurse specialist in psychiatric nursing, and is certified as a family nurse practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Her clinical background includes experience in critical care, surgery, acute and residential psychiatric care, and family practice. She currently practices as a nursing practitioner in the hospice/palliative care program at the Visiting Nurses Association of Porter County. Dr. Brandy serves as the parish nurse coordinator for a local congregation, and is a member of the board of directors at Whispering Pines Healthcare Center. She is a member of several professional nursing organizations including Sigma Theta Tau, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners, and American Psychiatric Nurses Association. Dr. Brandy served as a reviewer for the tenth edition of Principles and Practice of Psychiatric Nursing, and has been invited to serve as a peer reviewer for the Journal of American Psychiatric Association. Her work has been published in the Journal of Psychosocial Nursing and Mental Health Services. Dr. Brandy was selected as a recipient of the prestigious Wheat Ridge Grant to support her qualitative study examining depression in first year college students. Her research interests include spirituality and mental health.
