Biography
Professor Genovese joined the faculty in 2010. She serves as the Program Director for the Health Care Leadership (HCL), Health Administration (MHA) and International Human Services and Counseling(IHSC) programs in the College of Nursing and Health Professions (CONHP). She has taught several graduate courses within the CONHP. Professor Genovese is certified as a nurse educator (CNE) and also holds certification in maternal-newborn nursing by the National Certification Corporation. She has authored several book chapters and articles, and co-authored a grant-sponsored children’s book in English and Spanish. Currently, she serves an external consultant for curricular design. Her past employment experiences consist of Executive Director of Nursing 2000 North, a non-profit nursing agency; Director and Associate Professor of Nursing at Purdue University, NC; Director of a perinatal women’s chemical dependency program; Program Director of a prenatal substance use prevention program; and as a RN in multiple disciplinary clinical sites. Dr. Genovese serves on the advisory board of the Northwest Indiana AHEC and the Indiana Interprofessional Education Practice Committee. Also, she is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, AONE, IONE, and NIONE. She has authored and received multiple grants focused on nursing workforce development. She is the past recipient of the Sigma Theta Tau graduate award, Purdue University Teaching Award, Sasakawa Fellowship, a post-baccalaureate faculty fellowship grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, and a team member of the Rotary Group Study Exchange program to Kyushu, Japan.
