Biography
Professor Bleza joined the faculty in 2009 and teaches in the undergraduate program. Her extensive clinical experience in critical care environments includes medical, surgical and neuro intensive care, open heart recovery, trauma and emergency care. Prior to teaching at Valpo, she worked as a clinical nurse educator in emergency and critical care. Her scholarly interests include debriefing and human patient simulation in nursing education as strategies to enhance clinical decision making. Professor Bleza is a practicing parish nurse and active volunteer, leading the initiation and development of anautomated external defibrillator (AED) program at a local church and school, and provides ongoing AED, CPR and first aid training through the American Heart Association. She received the Graduate Faculty Excellence Award in 2009. Professor Bleza co-authored a health promotion chapter in School Nursing: A Comprehensive Text (2nd Edition). She is a member of the National League for Nursing and Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing.
