Biography

Mr. Franco N. Palomba serves as Corporate Senior Vice President of Finance and Treasurer at Varian Medical Systems Inc. and served as Corporate Vice President of Finance and Business Development. Mr. Palomba served as Vice President and Treasurer of Varian Medical Systems Inc., since May 2004 and was responsible for domestic and international cash management, foreign exchange activities, derivatives, credit, receivables and stock administration. Mr. Palomba was also responsible for Varian Medical Systems Inc.'s risk management, tax, fleet and travel functions. He served as Vice President of Varian, Inc. since 2002. Mr. Palomba served as Principal Accounting Officer of Varian, Inc., and served as its Controller from 2001 to 2002 and Treasurer from 1999 to 2001. He served also as Corporate Audit Manager of Varian Associates, Inc. from 1995 to 1999. From 1984 to 1999, Mr. Palomba worked with Varian Associates, Coopers & Lybrand and PricewaterhouseCoopers, in various audit management positions. Mr. Palomba earned a BS degree in accounting from California State University - Hayward and an MBA in administration and finance from the College of Notre Dame in San Mateo. Mr. Franco N.
