Biography
Mr. Earl R. Fender has been Chief Executive Officer and President of VertiFlex Inc. since April 27, 2008. Mr. Fender served as Vice President and General Manager of Orthopedics of Osiris Therapeutics, Inc., from June 2006 to April 23,2008. Prior to joining Osiris, Mr. Fender served for over ten years with DePuy Spine Inc., a Johnson & Johnson company, holding positions as Vice President, Sales, U.S. President, and finally as Worldwide President. Under his direction DePuy Spine became the second largest spinal implant manufacturer in the world. Most recently he served as Worldwide Vice President, Public Policy, for the five global businesses of DePuy, Inc., leading and shaping DePuy's response to key external environmental issues. In less than two years, he built Osiris' Osteocel business from scale-up to one of the world's leading commercialized cellular products. He has over 25 years of successful leadership experience in general management and product commercialization in the medical device and spinal industry. Prior to Johnson & Johnson, Mr. Fender led the U.S. sales organization for Synthes (USA), the industry leader in orthopedic trauma, orchestrating a five year period of sales force expansion and accelerated growth. He has been a Director of VertiFlex Inc. since April 27, 2008. His academic credentials include a B.A. in Business Administration from Thiel College and the completion of Harvard Business School's Program for Management Development.
