Alyssa Maute Smith

Biography

A native of Charleston, South Carolina, Alyssa graduated from Clemson University with a BA in Communication Studies and from the College of Charleston with a MA in Communication. Alyssa has a passion for public relations, marketing, and enjoys applying her creative energy to think out of the box to design strategies that get results for businesses. Before launching Vestige Communications in 2014, Alyssa has worked for a small local art business as their Managing Director and Director of Communication and Public Relations. She applied her inventive oomph to strategically manage the communication and growth of the business and its 30 employees. In addition, Alyssa worked as a freelance public relations, communications and graphic design consultant for three years. She has coordinated social media campaigns, marketing plans and overall communication efforts for many locally owned and operated businesses in the Charleston area. Alyssa is passionate about her hometown and local community. She currently serves as an active board member of Lowcountry Local First and as Chair of the Membership Committee. She is an active member of her church, an avid supporter of the Charleston Animal Society, the Center for Women, and the Chamber of Commerce, among others. Alyssa has been recognized for her efforts in the community in publications like Charleston Magazine, The Post and Courier, and West Of Newspaper, among other accolades and achievements. Alyssa resides on James Island, surrounded by her family and friends. When she is not at work, you can find her enjoying the sunshine out on Folly Beach or on the Folly River.
