David R. Gius Jr

Biography

Mr. Gius has over 30 years of experience as a project engineer, dating to his entry into the fields of geotechnical engineering and engineering geology in 1985. His extensive track record includes geotechnical and geologic studies for schools, hospitals, fire stations, commercial and industrial projects, and residential subdivisions. Mr. Gius has performed numerous site-specific ground response studies for earthquake analyses of structures, as well as forensic analyses of distressed structures throughout the Sacramento Valley. Mr. Gius received his Bachelor of Science degree in Geology and Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University. His studies concentrated on the fields of engineering geology, geotechnical engineering and open-channel hydraulics. He is a California registered Civil Engineer, registered Geotechnial Engineer, Professional Geologist and a Certified Engineering Geologist. Mr. Gius is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Association of Engineering Geologists, the Earthquake Engineering Research Institute and the Structural Engineers Association of Central California, and is past President of the California Geotechnical Engineering Association – CalGeo (1999–2000). Mr. Gius is a proud member and Past President (2015-2016) of the Rotary Club of West Sacramento, Centennial.
