Biography

I have recently become enamored with Pirellula staleyi and the Planctomycetes in general. I am interested in domesticating this bacterium and developing a system for its genetic analysis as a way of better understanding its lifestyle and ecological niche. I have continuing interests in learning in the sensitive plant and dead shrews in the middle of the road. The common thread that runs through all my scientific research is understanding biology as a liberal art.
