Biography
Dr. Karen Colorafi is an Assistant Professor at the College of Nursing. Dr. Colorafi has enjoyed a fifteen year career in clinical informatics. Her experience as both a clinical nurse and healthcare technology analyst give her unique insight into the needs of ambulatory practices as they adopt, implement, and optimize electronic health records. She specializes in operational assessments, including workflow analysis, and the resultant development and governance of strategic plans to solve front line problems with healthcare delivery. She utilizes health information technology whenever possible with a “people, process, product” philosophy to reach process improvement goals. Her research focuses on patient and family engagement with health information technology. Dr. Colorafi is actively pursuing research opportunities related to big data and the electronic plan of care in order to further national care coordination and patient engagement strategies.
