Biography
Professor Computer Science and Engineering Genetics.
Research Interest
Alzheimer’s disease, computational biology, plant biology, small noncoding RNAs, systems biology, transcriptional regulation. I am interested in developing novel machine learning and datamining approaches, algorithms and software tools for understanding the mechanism of transcriptional and post-transcriptional gene expression regulation. In my lab, we have been developing efficient computational methods for discovering cis-regulatory elements (motifs), constructing and characterizing functional networks of gene expression regulation, and identifying coding and non-coding genes that are responsive to particular stresses. I am particularly interested in applying computational methods to the study of complex human diseases, e.g., Alzheimer's disease, and of plant abiotic stress regulation and tolerance.
