Ronald J. Mittelstaedt

Biography

 Mr. Ronald J. Mittelstaedt, also known as Ron, has been the Chairman of the Board at Waste Connections, Inc. since January 1998 and also has been its Chief Executive Officer since September 1997. Mr. Mittelstaedt founded Waste Connections, Inc. in 1997. He served as the President of Waste Connections, Inc. from 1997 to August 2004. He has more than 14 years of experience in the solid waste industry. He served as a Consultant of United Waste Systems, Inc., and also served as Executive Vice President from January 1997 to August 1997, where he was responsible for corporate development for all states west of Colorado. As Regional Vice President of USA Waste Services, Inc. (including Sanifill, Inc., which was acquired by USA Waste Services, Inc.) from November 1993 to January 1997, he was responsible for all operations in 16 states and Canada. Mr. Mittelstaedt held various positions at Browning-Ferris Industries, Inc. from August 1988 to November 1993. He also served as Division Vice President of Northern California and overseeing the San Jose market. He served as the District Manager of BFI's operations in Sacramento and the surrounding areas. Prior to his career in waste management, he spent three years in the air freight industry. He has been a Director of ExpressJet Airlines, Inc. since October 1, 2013. Mr. Mittelstaedt has been a Director of SkyWest Airlines, Inc. since October 1, 2013. He serves as a Director of PRIDE Industries, Inc. He has been a Director of Waste Connections Inc. since September 1997. He served as a Director of Mattress Firm Holding Corp. from October 20, 2014 to December 17, 2015. He established the RDM Positive Impact foundation in 2004. Mr. Mittelstaedt holds a Bachelor's Degree (B.A. degree ) in Business Economics and Finance from the University of California -- Santa Barbara.
