Biography

Dr. Jones is an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at Weill Cornell Medical College and an Associate Attending Physician at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Jones earned her B.A. from Northwestern Uinversity and M.D. from New York Medical College. She completed her training in Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at The New York Hospital/Cornell Medical Center (now NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College). She has been an attedning cardiologist at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell (NYP-Weill Cornell) ever since. In addition to directing the HeartHealth Program, she is the Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship Program, and is responsible for the curriculum and training of 18 cardiology fellows at NYP-Weill Cornell. Until July 2014, she was the Director of the Inpatient Telemtry Unit at NYP-Weill Cornell, where she received the James J. Smith Teaching Award twice, the Excellence in Teaching Award from Weill Cornell Medical College and the Leonard Tow Humanism Award. She was named the Sanford B. Ehrenkranz Family Clinical Scholar in Women's Health from 2007-2010. She is board certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease, and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease. She is a member of the American Society for Preventative Cardiology, the American College of Cardiology, and the American Heart Association. Dr. Jones' clinical interests and expertise lie in all aspects of cardiovascular care, specifically preventative cardiovascular health, heart disease in women, assessment of coronary artery disease, valvular disease, and hypertension. She continues to be intimately involved in the training of housestaff and fellows at NYP-Weill Cornell, and serves on the committees for Graduate Medical Education and Continuing Medical Education. She is involved in numerous clinical research projects exploring novel agents for hyperlipidemia and adult onset diabetes, imaging to discover preclinical cardiovascular disease, and the effects of stress on cardiovascular and cerebrovascular health. She is also Clinical Co-Chair of the Executive Committee of the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women Campaign, which focuses on the awareness and prevention of cardiovascular disease in women. http://hearthealth.weillcornell.org/ 

Research Interest

A graduate of Northwestern University, Dr. Jones received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and Cardiology Fellowship at The New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center (currently known as NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell). Dr. Jones has been on the faculty of Weill Cornell Medical College since 1998 and is currently an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine and Associate Attending Physician. In addition, she is the Program Director of the Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and the Director of HeartHealth, a program of the Dalio Institute of Cardiovascular Imaging in the Department of Radiology. She is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease, and a member of the American College of Cardiology, The American Heart Association and the American Society of Preventative Cardiology. Dr. Jones received her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. In 1992, she received her medical degree from New York Medical College in Valhalla, New York. She completed her residency training in Internal Medicine, and fellowship in Cardiology at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center in 1998. Dr. Jones is the Director of the Inpatient Telemetry Unit . She is responsible for the academic curriculum for the students and residents when they rotate on the cardiology/telemetry unit. She also teaches Clinical Diagnosis for second and third year medical students and is a Teaching Attending Physician throughout the academic year. She has been a Student Mentor and participates in clinical rotations with first year medical students. Dr. Jones became an Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital- Weill Cornell in 2004, and is the Program Directior of the Division's Cardiolovascular Fellowship Program. Dr. Jones is a diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine and the American Board of Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Disease. She is a member of the American Medical Association, American College of Physicians, and American College of Cardiology.
