Biography
Dr. Jeff Rutherford came to Wheeling Jesuit University in the fall semester of 2008. He received his Ph.D. in History (2007) from the University of Texas. He specializes in modern German history with a research focus on the German Army and its combat and occupation practices in the Soviet Union during the Second World War. He is interested in military history, the development and practice of total war, Europe during the "Age of Ideologies" and comparative ethnic cleansing and genocide.His monograph Combat and Genocide on the Eastern Front: The German Infantry's War, 1941-1944 (Cambridge University Press, 2014) was simultaneously published in both cloth and paperback.
