Biography
Kay Sanders is Professor of Child Development. She received her Ph.D. at UCLA Graduate School of Education. Sanders teaches the undergraduate series of courses in the Department of Education and Child Development. Her research focuses on the racial and ethnic socialization processes of child care for low-income racial, ethnic, and language minority children.
Research Interest
Her research focuses on how experiences associated with culture, race and ethnicity in professional child care programs influence children’s present and future social and emotional development. She is the recipient of research awards such as the Spencer Fellowship, 2000 - 2003; an NIMH Training Fellowship, 2003 - 2004; and an Irvine Fellowship in Child Development, 2004
