Biography
Professor Shannon M. Stanton is an Associate Professor in Education where she specializes in multicultural education and teaching diverse learners with a social justice framework. She currently runs a research project UPLIFT: Uniting Passion and Literacy for Individual Focus and Transformation, an afterschool and summer enrichment program working with academically at-risk middle school students in the cities of Long Beach and Whittier, CA. She has worked as a literacy consultant, developing curriculum for various non-profit education programs such as Project GEAR UP, A Day in the Life, and LEARN. She has also presented multicultural workshops at various national conferences and schools.
