Biography
Monte R. Anderson has teaching responsibility in agricultural education, horticulture and agronomy. Since 2009 he has been involved in field grow out of about 150 varieties of tomatoes each year. The tomatoes are evaluated for early and late blight resistance. In the summer of 2015 the trial were extended to over 100 varieties of peppers. Numerous teaching awards: most recently: SOCHE Faculty Excellence in Teaching: 2012; Ohio Farm Bureau Agriculture Educator-of-the-Year: 2013; and Wilmington College Student Government Association Teaching Excellence Award: 2014. Teaching in Excellence – Greater Cincinnati Consortium of Colleges and Universities – 2014. Co-Contributor of an essay regarding the history of Wilmington College Farms in Fields of Learning: The Student Farm Movement in North America (University Press of Kentucky), Laura Sayre and Sean Clark. Dr. Anderson is committed to advocacy in agriculture. Since 2014 he has, with students, visited government, elected representatives and industry in Washington D.C. to advocate on issues such as Renewable Fuel Standards; Waters of the United States, (WOTUS); and Country of Origin Labeling (COOL). Presently he serves as a member of State of Ohio FFA Foundation Board as well as a member of State of Ohio FFA Advisory Committee.
