Biography
Lavina Ranjan joined Women Deliver in July 2017 and is a 2017/18 Global Health Corps Fellow. She will be working on the 2019 Global Conference planning and providing technical advice. Lavina is from Sri Lanka and was raised between Toronto and Chicago. After graduating from TCU, Lavina received the Princeton in Africa fellowship and spent one year teaching biology, chemistry, physics and reproductive health at Maru-a-Pula Secondary School in Botswana. Afterwards, she pursued her Master’s in Public Health with a focus on epidemiology and maternal/newborn health at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. While at Hopkins, Lavina worked in South Africa with HIV positive adolescents and children, as well as in the clinic’s antenatal unit. After completing her degree, she worked on a regional IFRC project addressing Zika awareness and prevention on 10 Caribbean islands. Immediately prior to joining Women Deliver, she spent some time at Save the Children US working in grant management on their Global HIV team. Lavina is passionate about supporting strategies that improve maternal, sexual and reproductive health, especially among displaced populations.
