John P. Mcconnell

Biography

John P. McConnell is a Partner with MVP Venture Capital Fund. Since 1998, Mr. McConnell has been a Manager of McConnell Venture Partners Fund LLC. Mr. McConnell is Founder and Owner of McConnell Golf, LLC and serves as its Chief Executive Officer and President. He served as Chief Executive Officer of McConnell Golf, LLC. In June 1982, he co-founded Medic Computer Systems Inc., a healthcare information management systems firm headquartered in Raleigh. He serves as Executive Officer of Raleigh Country Club. He served as the President and Chief Executive Officer of Medic Computer Systems Inc. from June 1982 to 1998. He served as the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of A4 Health Systems, Inc. of Network Medical Systems, Inc. He served as Chief Executive Officer of A4 Health Systems. Mr. McConnell serves as the Chairman of the North Carolina Technological Development Authority and First Flight Venture Center. He serves as an Outside Director of Med3000, Inc. He has been Independent Director of Keona Health, Inc. since May 14, 2014. He is a Director of the 2004 WakeMed Foundation in North Carolina. He serves on the Advisory Board for the College of Public Health at University of North Carolina. He served as a Director of Blackbaud Inc. from March 16, 2006 to June 2012. Mr. McConnell served as a Director of Allscripts Healthcare Solutions Inc. from March 7, 2006 to March 17, 2008 and Allscripts-Misys Healthcare Solutions, Inc. until March 17, 2008. He served as a Director of Medic Computer Systems Inc. since June 1982. His healthcare and business expertise has led him to contribute to several boards both for profit and non-profit including Allscripts, (Nasdaq MDRX) Blackbaud Inc. (Nasdaq BLKB), MED3000, WakeMed Foundation and The Gillings Global College of Public Health at UNC. In 1994, Mr. McConnell received the North Carolina High Technology Entrepreneur of the Year Award. He received the North Carolina Technology Association's Outstanding Achievement Award in 2012. He was recognized as one the top CEOs in the nation for stock price appreciation in 1995 and 1997. He was honored again in 1995 and 1996, when he was recognized as one of the Top 100 Chief Executive Officer’s in the Nation by Chief Executive Officer Magazine. Mr. McConnell is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a B.S. degree in Finance, holds BA from Harvard College and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
