Biography

Professor Colle received his Ph. D. in psychology from the University of Washington, Seattle, WA He had the following pre and post-doctoral appointments: National Defense Education Act Title IV Fellowship, University of Washington, Seattle, WA Resident Research Associate, Human Performance Branch, NASA Ames Research Center, Moffitt Field, CA Visiting Scientist, Human Resources Division, Williams Air Force Base, AZ Visiting Scientist, Air Force Research Laboratories, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Dayton, OH Previous Academic Position was as Assistant Professor of Psychology, Graduate Psychology Faculty, The University of Chicago, Chicago, IL Currently, he is Professor of Psychology in the Department of Psychology, College of Science and Mathematic, Wright State University, Dayton, OH He is a Fellow of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society

Research Interest

Research statement: The COGNITION; Spatial Knowledge, Measurement, & Memory Acquisition Lab . Research in his lab is currently directed at understanding how people acquire spatial knowledge during navigation.  They have focussed on the spatial knowledge that is most difficult to learn, configural spatial knowledge.  They ï»¿ have configural spatial knowledge of an area when they ï»¿ know its layout, where one object is located with respect to others in the area.
