Role of gut microbes in human health and in gastrointestinal diseases such as IBS, diabetes, and obesity. Metabolic interactions in complex microbial communities. Host-microbial interactions of pathogenic and commensal enterobacteria. Use of metabolic and mathematical modeling to study biological principles.
