Biography

 Ms. Betsy J. Bernard serves as an Advisor at Grotech Ventures. Ms. Bernard has been an Independent Director at Telular Corporation from July 30, 2007 to August 7, 2013. She has been an Independent Director of Zimmer Holdings, Inc since January 2009. She has been an Independent Director for Principal Financial Group, Inc. since 2001 and Serco Group plc. Ms. Bernard also serves on the Advisory Boards of Silverfern LLC and Innovate Partners. She has been an Alternate Presiding Director at Principal Financial Group, Inc. since May 21, 2007. She serves as a Member of the Advisory Board of Portview Communications Partners LP. She has been Director of Principal Life Insurance Company since 1999. She serves as a Director of United Negro College Fund, Inc. and Principal Financial Group, Inc. Ms. Bernard served as the President of AT&T Corporation from April 2001 to December 2, 2003. She served as an Executive Vice President of AT&T Consumer. From 2001 to 2002, she served as the Chief Executive Officer and President at&T Consumer. Since retiring from AT&T in 2003, she has focused on her work with a number of corporate boards and on civic activities. Prior to AT&T, she served as an Executive Vice President of National Mass Markets for Qwest Communications International from 2000 to 2001. In addition to her AT&T experience, Ms. Bernard served in senior executive roles at Qwest Communications International, US West Corporation where she served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Pacific Telesis. She served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Pacific Bell Telephone Company. She served as the Chief Executive Officer and President of Avirnex Communications. She served as Vice President of Business Market Group of Pacific Telesis Group. She served as an Executive Vice President of Qwest Communications International Inc. She served as the Chairperson of SITO Mobile r Corporation from February 3, 2011 to August 7, 2013. She served as a Director of United Technologies Corp. since September 10, 2003. She served as a Lead Director at SITO Mobile, Ltd. since July 21, 2014 until June 5, 2017 and its Independent Director since July 15, 2014 until June 5, 2017. She served as a Director of Bearingpoint, Inc from March 30, 2004 to June 1, 2009. She served as a Director of URS Corporation from August 2004 to May 24, 2007. Her significant board experience spans more than a decade. She is a frequent speaker on women’s leadership issues and served on the board of the International Women’s Forum. She appears for the third consecutive year on Fortune Magazine's list of “50 Most Powerful Women in Business,” where she ranks 12th. Ms. Bernard holds a Doctor of Laws (Honorary) from Pepperdine University, an M.B.A. from Farleigh Dickinson University and an M.S. in Management from Stanford University and a B.A. from St. Lawrence University
