James R. Abbott

Biography

 James R. Abbott is senior vice president of Investor Relations and External Communications. Before joining Zions in 2009, he was a senior vice president and an equity analyst with FBR Capital Markets covering the banking industry. Prior to that, Abbott was a senior bank equity research and merger and acquisitions analyst at SNL Financial and also worked in retail trading at Fidelity Investments. While at Zions, Abbott has consistently been one of the top-ranked Investor Relations Officers for U.S. regional banks as published in Institutional Investor. In his role as Equity Analyst at FBR, he was consistently ranked as a top earnings estimator by Starmine for the Thrift/Mortgage Finance industry, with a five-star rating. In addition, Abbott has worked extensively with the media, including appearances on CNBC and Bloomberg TV and has been quoted in many business publications such as the Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, Barron's and the American Banker. He has actively volunteered his time in youth programs including the Boy Scouts of America. Abbott earned a bachelor's degree in business (finance emphasis) from the University of Utah.
