Anand Mehra M.d.

Biography

Dr. Anand Mehra, M.D. has been General Partner at Sofinnova Ventures, Inc. since May 2, 2013. He served as a Partner at Sofinnova Ventures, Inc. Dr. Mehra joined Sofinnova Ventures in 2007 as a Principal to focus on biopharmaceutical investing. He is focused on working with entrepreneurs to build drug development companies that have the power to improve the lives of patients. His diverse background equips him to work with entrepreneurs on scientific, clinical and strategic levels. Prior to this, Dr. Mehra worked in JP Morgan Partners in private equity and venture capital group. He was a Consultant in McKinsey & Company's pharmaceutical practice, advising pharma and biotech on core strategic issues. He was Associate of Panorama Capital. He has been a Director of Spark Therapeutics, Inc. since May 2015. He has been an Independent Director of Aclaris Therapeutics, Inc. since September 2014. He serves on the board of Amplyx Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and Medeor Therapeutics, Inc. He has been a Non Executive Director at Merus B.V. since August 2015. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board at Merus B.V. since August 2015. He served as a Director of Prothena Corporation Public and Vicept Therapeutics, Inc. He served as an Independent Director at Marinus Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from October 2007 to September 2016. He served as a Director of Aerie Pharmaceuticals, Inc. from August 2010 to November 28, 2015. He served as a Director of NextWave Pharmaceuticals Incorporated. Dr. Mehra received a M.D. degree from Columbia Medical School and conducted NIH sponsored research on the outcomes, mechanism and development of therapeutic agents for stroke. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa from the University of Virginia with a BA in Government, political philosophy and Foreign Affairs, where he also spent three years as a firefighter at the Seminole Trail Fire Department.
