Biography
Ruth Cookson joined the Economics Department at Old Dominion University as the Program Manager for the Center for Economic Education in 2002. She conducts workshops and develops curriculum for grades K-12 teachers, helping them to better integrate economics and financial literacy into their lessons. Prior to joining the Center, Ms. Cookson taught at Granby High School in Norfolk, VA from 1990- 2000 and was named Granby’s teacher of the year in 1997. She has been nationally recognized for her work with the ODU Center by the Council on Economic Education and currently serves on the Virginia Council for the Social Studies Board of Directors. Ms. Cookson earned her M.S. in Education from Old Dominion University in 1990.
