Biography

Lawrence V. Stanislawski received his B.S. in Forest Resources & Conservation in 1984 and M.S. in Forestry emphasizing remote sensing in 1988 from the University of Florida (UF). Recognizing the value of geographic information systems, he completed doctoral coursework in surveying and mapping at the UF Civil Engineering Department, where he developed and tested an automated approach for assessing positional accuracy of geospatial data. Prior to moving to Rolla, he worked in the systems engineering division for DynCorp and CSC to assist the Army Corps of Engineers in Jacksonville, Florida developing automated methods for geospatial data compilation, analysis, and mapping to assist project management and emergency operations for the Corps. He was a GIS consultant for Georgia Power, and GPS consultant for Lochrane Engineering of Orlando. Upon moving to Rolla in 1998, he worked as a, vector GIS developer, technical application manager, and business process and systems consultant for SAIC and ATA Services, Inc. to support the USGS with GIS database and systems development, and research and development on automated conflation and generalization. He was a lecturer of Geomatics at Missouri University of Science and Technology. Lawrence began working as a research cartographer for the Center of Excellence for Geospatial Information Science (CEGIS) in April 2011.
