Biography
Dr. George Hendricks serves as the Dean of the School of Public Affairs at Methodist University. Prior to his current appointment, he served as Chair of the Social Work Department at Methodist for six years. Dr. Hendricks began teaching at Methodist University (then Methodist College) in 2001 as an adjunct instructor in the social work department. In 2006 he joined the Methodist University family as a full time faculty member in the social work department. George has twelve years of practice experience in School Social Work where he worked with at-risk elementary school, middle school, high school and alternative school students. He holds the NASW School Social Work Specialist certification. His research interests and dissertation include the academic achievement of homeless children. He is one of four authors who recently published the book, Methamphetamine: A Multidisciplinary Approach to Solving the Problem. Two recent articles on homeless education appeared in the journals Children and Schools and School Social Work. His major research interest deals with the educational achievement of homeless children. He holds a B.S.W. and M.S.W. from East Carolina University and a Ph.D. in Human Services from Walden University. His favorite quote is by Gandhi, “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
