Jerry Hogge

A native of Poquoson, Virginia, Jerry Hogge attended Elon University where he earned his B.A. Degree and then went on to earn his M.S. Degree at the University of Tennessee. Once completed, Jerry became a faculty member and taught at Kennesaw College in Kennesaw, Georgia. Introduced to golf at age 26 by the late Bill Strausbaugh, Jerry became hooked on the game and decided to make it into his career. Earning his PGA Class A Membership in 1977, Jerry took a position as Assistant Golf Professional at Argyle Country Club in Silver Springs, MD and then moved to Lakewood Country Club in Rockville, MD a few years later. He became the Vice President and Director of Golf at Canaan Valley Resorts in Davis, WV, where he directed both retail golf and ski operations and managed three full-time food and beverage operations. In 1987, Jerry became the Director of the PGA Golf Management Program at Methodist College/University. During his tenure, the PGA Golf Management Program was accredited by the PGA of America in 1999. Under his direction, the PGA Golf Management Program at Methodist has graduated over 1,000 graduates and has a 100% job placement since 1989. Jerry has blended the best of what academia has to offer with the traditional values our industry so desperately needs. The result is an environment at Methodist College/University where young men and women are trained and nurtured so thoroughly, that upon graduation they are the most outstanding and highly sought prospects in the job market. Jerry has been recognized by the PGA of America and the Carolinas PGA Section for the following awards: 1999 Horton Smith Award Recipient – Carolina’s PGA Section 2001 Bill Strausbaugh Carolina’s Section Award Recipient 2002 Bill Strausbaugh National Award Recipient
