Biography
Chair, Department of Sociology Degrees: B.A., Syracuse University; M.A., M.S.Ed., Ph.D., University of Pennsylvania Bio: Dr. Smardon is a former Spencer Foundation Dissertation Fellow and was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Institute for Advanced Studies in Culture at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her most recent publication, "Calibrating Translational Cancer Research," was featured in Journal of Science, Technology and Human Values. Her areas of expertise include the Sociology of Childhood, the Sociology of Education and the Sociology of Science and Medicine.
